I‘m a huge fan of Dymo® label embossers, and so is Timo. We were using it a lot in our studio to keep the space organized and every now and then we encountered the situation that a certain character or symbol was missing. Besides that, punching a lot of this tape is kind of tedious so we decided to build an automated embosser. For doing so we‘ve mainly used salvaged parts from an old printer and a CD drive, combined with a beefy solenoid, a servo motor and some other stuff. One can now conveniently type on a keyboard, then choose one of seven different typographies and let the machine do the rest.
